Before you can import an existing Pressbook or start developing a new textbook in Pressbooks, you’ll need to request a book shell.
Authors can request a book shell via your contact at your university's library.
Library staff supporting authors publishing through the CAUL OER Collective can request a book shell via the request form on the Collective Administration Guide for Library Staff.
Pressbooks book shells include several empty parts and chapters to get you started:
a front matter part with an ‘Introduction’ chapter
a main body part with a ‘Chapter 1’
a back matter part with an ‘Appendix’ chapter.
Once the shell has been created, you will be able to organise the structure of the textbook and add content as needed.
