Before you can import an existing Pressbook or start developing a new OER in Pressbooks, you’ll need to request a book shell.
For institutions that have their own instance of Pressbooks, liaise with your institutional contact to request or negotiate a Pressbook shell. Alternatively, chat with your librarians and other OER champions or investigate other platform options for OER publishing.
Pressbooks book shells include several empty parts and chapters to get you started:
a front matter part with an ‘Introduction’ chapter
a main body part with a ‘Chapter 1’
a back matter part with an ‘Appendix’ chapter.
Once the shell has been created, you will be able to organise the structure of the OER and add content as needed.
