Emerald’s multiyear open access agreement offers two pathways, either via Publish where you read (Option 1), or publishing rights across the full Emerald eJournal Portfolio through Emerald Premier (Option2).

This agreement allows authors from participating institutions to publish in most of Emerald's hybrid and gold journals without the need for any transactional open access article processing charge (APC).
This is an uncapped agreement. There is no limit on the number of articles that can be published OA under this agreement.
Articles accepted from 1/1/2025 are eligible to be published open access under this agreement.
01/01/2025 is the start date of the CAUL agreement with Emerald Publishing.
The article acceptance date determines eligibility.

Eligible Author: means corresponding authors whose primary affiliation is with a Consortium Member as stated in the Eligible Content.
The corresponding author is the eligible author.
Responsible corresponding authors must include a participating institution as one of their affiliations to benefit from this agreement.
Authors will be identified as eligible for open access publishing by their:
Responsible corresponding authors must use their institutional email address when submitting an article for publication.
Responsible corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses (e.g. Hotmail, Gmail). Doing so may result in delayed approval of the article or the article may not be approved to be published open access under the terms of the agreement.
No other APC discounts are offered under this agreement.
The agreement allows for publishing in most journals. The complete title list is available online. If you wish to publish open access, please check to ensure that your desired journal is included.
Hybrid journals that 'flip' to OA during the course of this agreement will remain available for OA publishing for the duration of the agreement.
The only title excluded title is "The CASE Journal". This title is exclusively made up of business case studies, which includes teaching notes for each published case. The Teaching Notes cannot be made Open Access with this title is excluded from the offer.
In addition, The CASE Journal has never been included in the Emerald Premier / Emerald eJournal Subject Collections offer. It is available through Emerald Publishing's case study offerings, the Emerald Complete and Core Case Collections.
Articles from authors at participating institutions may be published under the following Creative Commons licenses:
Authors retain all rights as per the CC license.

The Creative Commons licenses allow reuse (some with conditions) while protecting the authors' rights of acknowledgment as authors.
Article approvals are managed by the publisher via a Emerald Submit in partnership with ChronosHub.
Emerald does not charge additional fees for page and/or colour fees. Authors should always check each journal’s submission guidelines to ensure that they will not be subject to any other fees or charges.
The following instructions for authors have been provided by the publisher. Further details are available on the publisher’s website.
Step 1:Visit ScholarOne to submit your article in your chosen journal.
Step 2: Use your participating institution as your primary affiliation.
Step 3: Select your primary institution from the dropdown list if it appears.
Step 4: Upon submission, your article will enter the peer-review process.
Step 5: If your article is accepted, you will receive an email to
confirm Emerald contact.
Step 6: When selecting the publishing option, choose ‘Accept the voucher’.
Step 7:Read the terms and conditions and sign the CCBY 4.0
licence by ticking the box.
Step 8: The article will enter the production process and will
be published open access.
